The duo talk about their upbringing in Philadelphia and how the setting has shaped their sound. While on the topic of foundational influences, the brothers also mention airport bars, tattoos, and their respective careers. Kevin, in particular, explains how his acting career helps him find different voices for each song. “I’ve always like singers who find a different place depending on the song they happen to be sinning,” Kevin explains.
As Ballad of the Brothers dropped on April 19th, the same day as the new Taylor Swift and Pearl Jam albums, the Bacons also explain their secret weapon for topping the charts: the autoharp. “I think that’s gonna knock Taylor Swift off No. 1,” Michael says as Kevin laughs.
